While there may be a slight slowdown in the second half of the year, the overall growth in the electronics and chemical sector should continue at a consistent growth of 7% for the balance of 2000.CurrencySince the Singapore economy is so reliant on trade, government officials carefully monitor the exchange rate of Singapore dollars to maximize the competitiveness of exports in world markets while guarding against the threat of imported inflation. However, it also makes the cost of imported goods more expensive, which is potentially inflationary.Fortunately, price pressures have been relatively tame in Singapore so that the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the country’s central bank, has been content to keep the currency weak while the local economy got out of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Letters of credit are not uncommon, but competition for exports from outside Singapore may make obtaining security on credit transactions difficult for the company selling to Singapore. Credit managers telephone their customer to resolve payment issues (if one doesn’t mind making telephone calls late at night from U.S. time zones, here’s a hint: Always send an e-mail to your customer first, outlining the issues and asking for confirmation about a time to place the telephone call).Joint ventures, while sometimes made difficult by the government, exist in enough Singapore markets so that prepared financial statements that Big Six accounting firm audit and that the West is familiar with are available (with figures usually denominated in Sing dollars). In Singapore, look to the “Cs as personal lifelong goals of the new generation of Singapore citizens: career, condominium, car, cash, and credit card. This includes the value placed on education, obtaining homes that are nicer than government built flats or apartments, cars (very expensive), and cash or credit cards to validate the level of consumption important to upwardly mobile people of the country.Greeting customs vary.

We left our slip in Brewerton about 6:30, and we made it to the first lock (lock #23 on the Erie Canal) by 7 AM when they opened. When we got out of lock #8 (I know I said there were only 7 locks on the Oswego Canal, but some how they left out a number, and the last one is #8) we could see the lake, and it didn’t look good at all. We went out in the dinghy, and decided we better get a fishing license, but after tying up to a wall, and walking into town to buy one, and the place was closed, we decided to just take a boat ride and not risk being pulled over by some conversation police. We thought we’d go out to the lake and see how big the waves were, and if it had calmed down any. I hope with all of the opportunities ahead of us to catch some big fish, I don’t end up just saying, “All we did was cast”.Today…NOA weather says, “winds less than 10 mph, and waves 2 feet or less”.As soon as the sun is up over the trees to warm things up a bit we’re heading out.

I figured out that we have put over 4000 miles on the bottom of this boat.Yesterday was an almost perfect day to cross Lake Ontario. On top of that there was a slight chop, and it took me a couple of minutes to work with the trim of the boat, and the speed to make it as smooth as possible. The perfect combination seemed to be 1650 RPM (about 18mph), and a medium trim, which made the nose of the boat stick up a little to make the chop less of an issue. We had left the bimini top down, so it was actually hot when we slowed down. The next thing we had to find after the crossing was a small boat channel called the Murray Canal. It was nestled in a small cove, and is about 8 miles long, and would connect us to a small lake, and the town of Trenton. I was going to tell them, but I didn’t want them laugh, then come and board the boat to see for sure, so I said 2 cases of beer, some gin, and some rum. (I figure if they do board the boat later, I’ll tell them that my wife had gone shopping, and I’m flabbergasted at how much she had bought)We started the Trent-Severn at 1:30. (You got to love these Canadians). So fishing license in hand (5 each, for 1 week…I sure hope we catch some fish) we head back to the boat. Good time for a cocktail. With cocktail hour winding down, I washed the dinghy, while Terry and the girls started to prepare for dinner (some kind of a chicken dish where the chicken floats in a butter sauce…I think Terry called it curry chicken…great stuff). (4 different kinds) Terry went back out to try the fishing, the girls were watching something on TV, and I took a shower, and went to bed.A GREAT DAY.I’ll keep you posted…BK
(Ephesians 4:32)How many times in a day do we lose our temper, snap at those welove, ignore those we work with, go to school with, interact with each day?Sometimes we are so wrapped up in our life, our problems, what we aretrying to get done, we simply tune out others. But God has told us to be kind to others, andagain, in our attempt to be living within His will, this is another facet ofour life we must be aware of. Our acts of kindness to others are away for God to speak to someone who needs Him. God wants us to change that nature tofocuson others first and ourselves second.

I couldnt take it anymore and after the 4 th night of choking, I asked for a new room. They told me they didnt have any which strikes me as odd considering they had a bright blue vacancy light lit up outside. She often asked questions about insomnia, and even tried to stay awake with me to experience it. She often cried for her parents so I tried to call them, but they hung up when I told them their daughter was in need. Her room begin to smell, I dont think she had a shower for a few days so I at least managed to coax her into the bath. I told her I was gay. She then began to freak out, splashing water everywhere as I told her to just calm down, everything was going to be okay. She started to shout at me, scream that I was going to hell for being a lesbian and told me to leave. I stopped real quick at the diner, told them it was for my best interest that I no longer work for them because of Amandas neurotic behavior and left. As soon as the cab pulled up, the driver tried to tell me he was to pick up a man. I told him no, I was the one who called for the cab and he proceeded to argue with me. I then pulled out a twenty and told him to please, just take me somewhere to get a coat. I told him I had been standing outside for over an hour and I did not feel comfortable being alone at a station that was closed. The lady looked at me like I was a freak so I told her I had just got in from the Mid-West and was a little unprepared. I took a cold shower, got dressed and asked the hotel boy to call me a cab. I went back to the hotel room with plenty of meds and slept for the next couple of days. After the 4th day, I felt a bit better so I went out into the city. The office manager was so rude to me, asking me so many questions and then just coming right out and telling me I was too over qualified for an assistant position.
